A Night of Pride and Celebration: Alberta Togolese Association Marks Togo Independence Day in Edmonton

On April 25, the Alberta Togolese Association hosted a vibrant and memorable celebration of Togo Independence Day at Kilkenny Community Hall in Edmonton. The event brought together a large and diverse crowd, reflecting the strength and unity of the Togolese community and its friends across Alberta.

From the very beginning, the atmosphere was filled with excitement, pride, and cultural connection. Attendees gathered to honor the history and independence of Togo, while also celebrating the rich diversity that defines life in Canada. One of the most powerful moments of the evening was when the audience proudly sang both the Togolese and Canadian national anthems—a beautiful symbol of identity, belonging, and unity.

The celebration was not only festive but also engaging and interactive. A lively Togo trivia challenge invited everyone to participate, with fun and educational questions centered around “How well do you know Togo?” The activity sparked laughter, learning, and friendly competition, with guests of all ages enthusiastically taking part.

e Premier of Alberta were also in attendance, highlighting the importance of community collaboration and cultural recognition at the provincial level.

Guest speakers delivered inspiring remarks on unity, cultural pride, and the importance of preserving heritage while building strong connections in Canada. Their words resonated deeply with the audience and reinforced the mission of the Alberta Togolese Association.

The event was truly a great celebration—filled with joy, music, learning, and connection. Everyone participated, everyone celebrated, and most importantly, everyone had fun. It was a powerful reminder that even far from home, the spirit of Togo lives on through its people.

As the evening came to a close, guests continued to share laughter, dance, and meaningful conversations—ending the night on a high note of unity and pride.
